Christopher·Haworth is a composer and writer working on instrumentality and authenticity in technologically-mediated musics. His Ph.D, undertaken at the Sonic Arts Research Centre (QUB), focused on what he has called 'ear as instrument' electronic music composition. Employing voluntary and involuntary mechanisms of audition, such as distortion product otoacoustic emissions and echo suppression, as explicit compositional materials, these works dramatise the listening process, encouraging perceptual creativity. His writing has been published in LMJ and in the edited volume 'Resonances: Noise and Contemporary Musics'.
