Alexandra Cárdenas Acosta (Colombia/Mexico)
Born in Bogotá, Colombia en 1976. Studied Composition with Catalina Peralta at Los Andes University, where she graduated in 2000. She also studied classical guitar with Carlos Rocca Lynn. Since 2008 she works with SuperCollider, programming and improvising music. She is constantly creating projects at the Multimedia Center in Cenart, with the support of Robotics and Audio Workshops. She has been improvising music since 2009 and collaborates with different artists, among them María Lipkau (cello), Raúl Tudón (percussions) and Erick Diego (performance). She also makes music for theater and is right now working with “Quinta Teatro” creating interactive instruments and
live electronics music for their plays. In 2011 FONCA and CONACYT gave her a grant to be an artist resident at Tokyo Wonder Site in 2012. She wrote a piece for Nanae Yoshimura (koto) and Suzuky Toshiya (recorder) with live electronics. Her work focuses on experimentation using live electronics, improvisation, creation of controllers and interfaces and livecoding. Besides her creative work, she has recently organized two festivals devoted to experimental music in Mexico City: ArsFutura and Odiuresion for Radio UNAM.
