Katarzyna Taborowska, b. 31st May 1974 in Cracow. In 1993-95 she studied composition with Prof. Bogusław Schaeffer, and in 2001 she obtained a master’s degree in composition after studies with Prof. Lidia Zielińska in the Music Academy in Poznań.
She attended the International Workshop of Contemporary Music in Cracow/Stuttgart (1998), the International Multimedia Workshop in Skoki (2000), and won the scholarship of the “Muzyka Centrum” Association to participate in the Acanthes 2000 master classes organised by the Parisian IRCAM.
Since 1999, she has been a member of the Polish Composers’ Union’s Youth Circle, since 2005 - of the Polish Society for Electroacoustic Music (PseME) and since 2008 of the Polish Composer’s Union.
"Through the window" for clarinet, violin, vibraphone / marimba, piano, accordion and tape was created in 2004. The piece is inspired by the sound of train travel. The whole structure is based on the onomatopoeia of this sound. Through the window you can see images that are not there, and exist only in the imagination.
Her compositions have been performed at a number of contemporary music festivals.
